Tea has been a staple of much of eastern culture for hundreds of years and for good reason...

The health benefits of tea are many, we will give a quick introduction to some of them in this article. In general tea will make you feel more concentrated for work and more stimulated for exercise. Generally it will make you better mentally prepared to face daily tasks and obstacles. One of the main attributes to tea that differs from coffee is the way the caffeine works in combination with L-Theanine; it works as a relaxing, mood and cognition enhancing drink. Drinking tea can boost your exercise endurance and reducing the risk of heart attack. It might also have a positive effect in protecting against cardiovascular and degenerative diseases.

Green tea

The health benefits of Green tea are many, and it is probably the most researched of all tea. It is made with steamed or pan fried tea leaves filled with antioxidants. Research shows it may interfere with the growth of several cancers including; bladder, breast, lung, stomach, pancreatic, and colorectal cancers. Green tea has also proven to prevent clogging of the arteries, burn fat and counteract oxidative stress on the brain. It may also reduce the risk of neurological disorders like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, reduce the risk of stroke, and improve cholesterol levels.

In general Green tea will make you feel alert, awake and stimulated. More so than other tea types, as this type has one of the highest caffeine contents, and also due to its composition of antioxidants. We absolutely recommend drinking this tea over coffee or other drinks for health as well as well being.

White tea

The health benefits of White tea are similar to that of green tea. White tea is mostly known for its lack of additional processing, it is withered and dried in the sun. Some studies have shown that this tea has the most potent anticancer properties compared to more processed teas. In Chinese culture this is a very popular tea amongst women for its properties for improving beauty, it can purify and soften the skin from inside out.

Fresh White tea may make you feel somewhat similar to that of Green tea. Older White tea on the other hand will have more impact on the brain, and its medicinal properties are even better. Aged White tea can possibly give the feeling of being "tea drunk" when consumed in high quantities.

Black tea

This tea is made with fermented tea leaves. It is the most widely consumed tea in the world and often forms the basis for flavored teas. The health benefits of Black tea has in some studies shown to have a positive effects in protecting the lungs from damage caused by exposure to cigarette smoke. It may also reduce the risk of stroke.

Generally Black tea will make you feel alert and stimulated, however the effect and feeling is different from that of White and Green tea.

Oolong tea

The health benefits of Oolong tea are similar to the other tea described but is also considered to have an adverse effect on cholesterol levels. Some Oolong has even been marketed as weight loss supplement.

Oolong is considered the tea with the lowest amount of caffeine, and one of the highest amounts of L-Theanine. It has a very different effect on the mind and body compared with that of Black or Green tea. The mood enhancement and relaxation abilities of this tea are high.

Pu Erh tea

The health benefits of Pu Erh tea are many according to scientific studies. Pu Erh tea aids in eliminating fat, improving your body's metabolism and strengthening your body for youthful longevity. Pu Erh Tea cleanses the blood, lowers cholesterol and triglycerides, helps with weight control and is also known to help a hangover or two. It is the perfect tea after a heavy meal as it helps relieve any indigestion. It also aids in the digestion of fatty foods.

Fresh raw Pu Erh tea may make you feel somewhat similar to that of Green tea. Aged Raw Pu Erh will have more impact on the brain, and can possibly give the feeling of being "tea drunk" when consumed in high quantities. Ripe Pu Erh has less caffeine and will be more of a mood enhancer and a great way of flushing down a big meal.
